The Beauty of Shared Maternity Care at Juno

We are passionate about providing exceptional care to those traversing the landscape of pregnancy.

Shared Maternity Care Explained

Shared Maternity Care is for people seeking to have their babe in the public hospital system.

It’s a pregnancy care option where medical care is shared between a public maternity hospital and an accredited GP, midwife or obstetrician.

In Shared Maternity Care, the majority of pregnancy visits take place with your Shared Care GP.

Key visits are performed at your hospital. You birth at hospital. Then you and your babe return to see your Shared Care GP at 6 weeks post birth.

Shared Maternity Care at Juno Specialist means:

  • You’re held in the beautiful, calm, comfortable, sensory friendly Juno space

  • Less time in hospitals, less time waiting

  • Lengthier consultations. This allow you to be and feel heard, discuss and learn what’s important to you

  • Continuity of care over the course of a pregnancy means there’s no need to re-explain your circumstances each appointment. We’ve heard you and we’ve got you.

  • Care is tailored to your unique needs

  • GP’s are uniquely placed to also provide generalised care and manage symptoms and conditions that are occurring alongside your pregnancy (for example: migraines, pain, mental health support)

  • We actively collaborate with some of the most incredible allied health professionals also working out of Juno Specialists who can also support your pregnancy journey

  • We’re linked in with the incredible pregnancy and postpartum longer services that Juno offers around Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Support

  • We’re a familiar face for you and babe to see at your 6 weeks postpartum check

Why choose Shared Maternity Care?

Research shows having a known care provider during pregnancy results in less hospital admissions, higher breastfeeding rates and women and birthing people being more satisfied with their experience.
