‘What Even Is This Place?’ a reflection from a Juno experience

‘What even is this place?’

She looked around. Eyes wide. Jaw released. Naming the very thing we all felt in that moment.

It was the way she looked around.

As though she’d found the entrance to The Secret Garden. As though she’d come through the wardrobe and stumbled straight into Narnia.

We were co-creating elevated care - in real time. Witnessing how this changes things - in real time.

And it was palpable.

She had walked a bunch of really hard days.

As a team, we had met her with what she needed.

Offered her what we knew she needed but she couldn’t quite see herself.

It’s impossible for anyone in the eye of their own storm to step back and see the big picture. That’s what support people are for. To be the wise, grounded others that can see the needs of the moment.

And so we did.

Our gorgeous reception team organised smooth flow over it all.

Our Founder, Dr Nicole thought of all the ways we could make this situation accomodating.

And together, her Juno care team worked to support the moment. Dr Bec (Juno Paediatrician), Dr Nicole (Juno Founder and GP), Robynne (Juno Nurse), Jacqueline (Juno Psychologist) and Amy (Juno Acupuncturist) collaborated for an entirely new level of experience and outcome.

The wisdom, compassion and skill of five practitioners formed strong support around it all. Holding all the facets of this story.

Compassionate care flowed over the course of hours and days.

Care that met the moment and looked long-term too.

On days like these - in situations like these - Juno becomes a second home.

Many hands help. People hold the babe. There’s space and time for snacks and meals and lie downs.

There is space to be and a space to breathe again.

She’s calm now. Clear now. All things are possible again. That’s what prompts this new reflection.

‘What even is this place?’

And when she says that, two of us practitioners tear up a little too. Because we know this is special.

We know that outside these walls, this rarely exist.

Her reflection finds our heart because this is exactly what we set out to create.

We love that we can make people feel like they’ve stumbled through into another world where better outcomes and genuine collaborative multifaceted holding exist.

We love that the level of care we bring has people feeling so held and so seen they can barely fathom the existence of it.

After lifetimes of fragmented care, the joy and relief of care that comes together.

This is what we’ve researched and dreamt about and poured over and hyper-focused our attention on for decades.

Witnessing peoples responses to this approach and this level of care has felt profoundly beautiful. It’s changing us and fuelling us.

These honest reflections open up a kind of joy and freedom and lightness.

They fill these walls. And as they do, this space becomes more alive.

What exists now is a reality that was once a dream. Contained in our collective minds and google drives and stacks of paper and message threads.

Now - it’s a reality.

And it’s a reality that will become our legacy.

We’re here to change the landscape of how things are done. And we’re beaming with joy thinking about what grows from this solid ground.

What grows from this team - who really are the absolute best.

And we want to say:

Thank you.

Thank you for trusting us.

Thank you for coming to see us.

Thank you for referring to us.

Thank you for being with us.

Thank you for helping bring to life what we always knew would be sparkling.

When we say we’re here to Redefine Women’s, Maternal, Infant and Child Health - this is exactly what we mean.

And genuinely, we are Just Getting Started.

As always, we would love to be a part of your healthcare and support team.
